The Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (OLBCF) proudly announces its newly elected board leadership for the 2026 term, marking a powerful new chapter of impact, innovation, and advocacy on behalf of Black communities across Ohio.
Taking on the role of Board Chair is Clifton R. Williams III of Cleveland, a government affairs lobbyist with Taft Law. Known for his strategic expertise and commitment to public service, Williams brings deep policy knowledge and a political strategy to OLBCF at a critical time for Black leadership in Ohio. Our new Vice Chair: Monica Womack of Columbus and Treasurer: Nikki Joy Williams of Cincinnati.
This leadership team reflects OLBCF’s commitment to regional representation at the community and government level that advances Black voices across the state. “They understand the urgency and responsibility of this moment, and they are prepared to lead with clarity, and vision,” said Shayla L. Davis, President & CEO of OLBCF.
As OLBCF steps boldly into the future, it honors and celebrates Derrick Clay, who has faithfully served as Board Chair for 17 years, guiding the organization through growth, challenge, and historic transformation.
During his leadership, Clay:
Launched the OLBCF Roundtable, a statewide platform for policy dialogue
Appointed two Presidents & CEOs to lead the Foundation: Barbara Sykes (Akron) and current President & CEO Shayla L. Davis (Cleveland)
Strengthened legislative partnerships across state and local levels
Upheld a standard of integrity and influence at the Ohio Statehouse and beyond
“Clay has given OLBCF nearly two decades of dedicated leadership,” said Davis. “We are deeply thankful for his enduring commitment and for the legacy he leaves behind.” Clay will be formally honored at a special event to be announced in 2026.
As OLBCF moves forward, we will continue to build on the strength of new leadership across the state, ensuring that every region in Ohio has intentional and empowered representation on the OLBCF Board. We remain committed to empowering and uplifting Black communities by addressing systemic inequities, driving policy change, and fostering social justice.
