Clifton R. Williams III
Board Chair
Clifton serves as a strategic advisor and public policy strategist to clients ranging from corporations, small and medium-sized companies, nonprofit organizations, and associations. Leveraging his relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials, Clifton advocates for clients on a wide range of policy matters.
During his time at Taft, Clifton has helped secure millions of dollars for his clients through federal grants, community-directed spending projects, and local procurement contracts.
Prior to joining Taft in 2021, he served Ohio’s 11th Congressional District, the Office of Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge in multiple capacities in Washington, D.C. and Northeast Ohio. As District Director, he was responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the Congresswoman’s strategic legislative agenda and outreach priorities and served as her top liaison to local elected officials. As Legislative Director in Washington, D.C., he served as the Congresswoman’s lead staffer during the reauthorization process for the No Child Left Behind Act, now known as the Every Student Succeeds Act. Before serving as a Congressional Staffer, Clifton worked as a Fellow for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, working in the office for Former Ohio House Minority Leader, now Congresswoman Joyce Beatty.
